Top Performers: Bay Area Classic

Eric Canavan, CPCA—The 6-foot-8 Class of 2021 Prospect has shown consistency as a double double threat who plays with a motor and sustained relentlessness on the glass.

With strength and mobility, Canavan knows how to play in a souped up attack and guard multiple positions. Offensively, he is a high efficiency finisher who turns in timely buckets and can bring rim protectors away from the post with a steady 12-15 foot jumper.

He’s sneaky explosive, athletic, and runs the floor well.

Noah Tovar, CPCA—The 6-foot-2 guard had a 21-point game during the opening night of the Bay Area Classic and also proved he could read and pick apart a defense with adept passing and playmaking.

A reliable shot maker who can score it off the dribble, Tovar brings a toughness on the defensive end and sneaky explosive finishing ability as well.

Chandler Mack, PHS—The 6-foot-2 guard scored the ball in a variety of ways Friday night, exploding for a tournament best 41 points at the Bay Area Classic. Mack has innate defensive tenacity and knows how to instigate turnovers and convert them into above the rim transition finishes.

He’s a shifty guard who brings unrivaled spurt-ability, underscored by his ability to connect on consecutive 3-pointers and spark onslaughts. A no brainer Division-1 player, Mack is a deft passer who knows how to operate an offense and also take scoring matters into his own hands.

Ronnie Williams, PHS—The 6-foot-5 guard is a tremendous spot up shooter who knows how to knock down shots from deep and spread the floor out. Williams is also a high level scorer who creates his shot off the dribble and on the pull up.

The 3-point ace has a purity of vision in how well he can get open and takes good shots, never forcing the issue. An underrated passer, Williams is a high IQ player who has the intangibles and readiness for the ensuing level of play.

Rodney Sawyer, Rocktop Academy—The 6-foot-7, 218-pound forward has college ready physicality and natural, raw athleticism. He’s able to score points around and above the rim and really haul in rebounds and battle for 50-50 balls.

His motor evident, Sawyer is able to score a lot of hustle points and fly in for stickbacks. While he’s still learning the intricacies of the game, his upside and the relentlessness with which he plays are noteworthy aspects.

Arthur Burnett, Rocktop Academy

The 6-foot-8 manchild is a bullish around the rim scorer with a knack for getting above the rim and finishing in the open court in authoritative fashion.

With a motor and gung-ho style about him, Burnett’s game is emblematic of just how hard Rocktop plays. He’s a gritty defender and active presence on the glass.

Torrin Andrews, Rocktop Academy

The 6-foot-3 guard is a shot maker who knows how to find seams in the defense and playmake. As he showed this weekend, he’s developed a rapport with Rocktop’s strong and versatile forwards, knowing how to find them and trigger the transition game.

The South Florida native has a high IQ and can play both guard positions, with a reliable pull-up game and ability to reel off points in a hurry when he catches the hot hand.

TJ Lamb, CPCA—The 6-foot-4 guard is a classic depiction of a late bloomer. With his college ready physicality and instinctive playmaking ability, he brings a toughness and know how that is rare at the post graduate level. Lamb is a unique threat in his ability to knockdown shots and put the ball on the floor like a guard and also pound the boards inside and snatch rebounds over bigger players. He’s able to guard bigger players at 215 pounds, bringing an interior presence for a team that is thin on the frontline. A buy in guy with immeasurable intangibles, the Morgantown, W.V. native slipped through the cracks recruiting wise. He has the potential to be an instant impact player at several colleges in that area.
