Gardner Shows Out During EYBL Session 1

Orlando, FL–Displaying a full three level scoring repertoire and Big East caliber physicality, highly coveted Class of 2023 forward Brandon Gardner was one of the most intriguing prospects during the EYBL Session 1 at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex this weekend.

The freakishly athletic forward scored 18 points–showcasing a newfound, feathery outside stroke with a pair of 3-pointers–in helping spearhead Boo Williams to a win over PSA.

His defensive versatility and knack for contesting shots at the rim were noteworthy components of Gardner’s wide ranging, baseline to baseline game throughout the event.

Given his emergence as an all around player and proving he possesses the quickness to play in a souped up attack, the 6-foot-7, 185-pound Gardner is an accurate depiction of a stock riser.

He rattled off St. John’s, Auburn, Alabama, and Ohio State as the programs he’s speaking with most consistently.

Gardner was quick to say he loves New York. He’s equally intrigued by the idea of plying his trade on the massive proving ground that is Madison Square Garden.

He also expressed appreciation for SJU’s ultra passionate fan base.

Already, Gardner is hyped about their infectious energy.

“The (St. John’s) fans are calling me ‘Madison Square Gardner!” He said on Sunday.

“That’s hard. That’s too hard. St. John’s, they play fast. I love playing fast. I’m a fast player. They work hard in practice every day, I saw that (during a recent visit).”

Two major aspects are working in St. John’s favor in the Gardner Sweepstakes.

The first is Gardner’s relationship with Mike Anderson and the coaching staff. The second is the fact that his friend, IMG Academy (FL) five star shooting guard AJ Storr, will soon be on campus as a freshman with lofty expectations.

“I love the coaching staff because they’re a family, they treat me like family,” Gardner said. “AJ Storr, that’s gang right there. That’s my boy.”

Gardner is also speaking with Alabama often and is expecting to set up an official visit soon. He’s also hearing from Ohio State and said he’s expecting to hear from more schools throughout this AAU season.
