High Academic 2023 Forward Cassano On The Grind

With length, agility, a college ready frame at 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, Seacrest HS (FL) Class of 2023 prospect Nick Cassano is starting to tap into the potential realized in him back when he was a bone-thin, 15-year-old sophomore.

Cassano always had an advanced feel for the game with his passing arsenal and feathery touch.

Now, versatility is king for the Pro Holmes AAU product. He’s developed a catch and post game while steadily growing with critical aspects of his game such as above rim finishing and the ability to finish through contact.

With his face up game and catch and shoot from 15-feet out, he’s able to take rim protectors away from the post.

And, with his 3-point range and knack for creating his shot off the dribble, Cassano brings the rare jack of all trades caliber skill set at the high school level.

Offensively, Cassano brings the length and multi-positional style which enables him to be employed at the 3-5.

On the other side of the floor, he’s versatile enough to switch on guards and defend nearly every position.

“Nick is a long and versatile forward who makes sound, heads up basketball plays,” said Aaron Holmes, the founder and director of Pro Holmes.

“His upside is high and he’s got all of the intangibles with his length, IQ, awareness, and ability to shoot and pass at his size. He is poised for a breakout year as a senior.”

Cassano developed his feel for the game at an early age, with coaches emphasizing the value of a multi-faceted approach.

Indifferent to individual statistics and never too enraptured with the 6-foot-8 and 6-foot-10 examplar of athleticism that is today’s NBA guys, the Florida native instead took keen note of he could impact every connotation of the stat sheet.

He worked to offset weight and hyper athleticism deficiencies by being more creative as a passer and more comfortable putting the ball on the floor than most his size. Then, he transformed his body to 210 pounds prior to his junior season.

July 20-24 Live Period Highlights

As a catch and shoot, catch and dunk threat, Cassano was able to stake his claim as a guy who can consistently gather a double double during his noteworthy performance at FABC team camp. Cassano scored 18 points and gobbled up 10 boards against Canterbury St. Pete.

He put together his entire repertoire, displaying every facet of his evolving game with his ability to spread the floor out, post up, exploit mismatches, and finish above the rim. He followed this up with a 25-point, 14-rebound showing during a matchup against Manatee HS.

Cassano’s performance in the classroom has paralleled his emergence as a veteran leader at Seacrest.

Boasting a 4.5 GPA, Cassano boasts an Ivy League ready caliber transcript. His 1360 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT are translatable to the highest level academic institutions at the next level.
