Heading into the semifinals of the Division I playoffs, Cathedral Catholic has been spearheaded by Stanford-commit Alex Harrington.
Harrington, like his twin brother Hunter, was the first ever freshman to play varsity at the program. The high expectations and lofty goals envisioned for both players have now become a reality, as Cathedral prepares for its most rigorous barometer of the 2025 campaign.
Recently named Team MVP during an awards ceremony, Alex Harrington’s innate leadership characteristics were emphasized with an iron fist. The five tool talent and shortstop has piled up some gaudy numbers to propel Cathedral’s upward trajectory.
Leading into the marquee matchup, Alex Harrington boasts a .371 batting average with a 1.097 OPS and a .629 slugging percentage.
He’s piled up 33 hits in 28 games, roping six doubles, smacking four triples, and leaving the yard three times.
As the lead off hitter, Harrington has turned in 15 RBIs while scoring 28 total runs.
He’s been a stabilizing influence with weathered experience and know-how defensively, as he possesses a 93 percent fielding percentage.
The aforementioned twin brother, Hunter Harrington, first garnered notice and credibility in the Southern California area for his dazzlingly athletic defensive plays.

Now as a junior and sustaining his commitment to Stanford while fielding numerous scholarship offers for football (he’s been a prolific pass catcher at Wide Receiver for the Dons), Harrington and his .983 fielding percentage recently catapulted the center fielder to Defensive MVP/Gold Glove honors.
In football, Hunter Harrington was Cathedral’s Offensive Player of the Year during the annual program banquet last fall. He established a new program record with 13 touchdowns in a single season his junior year.
The 6-foot-2, 175 wide out culminated the season with 900 yards on 40 receptions through 12 games. He was named First Team CIF San Diego, First Team All-Western League, as well as First Team All-KUSI.
The multi-sport athlete has prolonged his production for the 19-10 Dons baseball team.
With improved strength and bat speed, Hunter Harrington is hitting .326 with a .570 slugging percentage and a .966 OPS. He’s compiled 28 hits in 29 games, belting five doubles, launching a pair of triples and parking four home runs.
Known for his shiftiness and quick burst speed, Harrington has swiped seven bases this season.
The Harrington’s objective since they arrived at Cathedral was to alter the perception of the program play substantial roles in helping the program attain national visibility.
As arguably the most important stretch of the post season ensues today, the upward trajectory continues.
